An Editor who directs / A Director who edits
One day, while studying film in college, I was in trouble: I had to edit an exercise film and did not have money to go to an editing room. So, I tried to do something I knew from hearsay: I connected two VHS videocassette decks with a cable, got the tapes and pressed “Play” on one side, and as I heard the faint noise of the drum with the tape hooked, I pressed “Rec & Play” on the other side… and so was cutting together the scene. I realized I could vary the times, the silences … and so I started to get excited! “but not much because it got ruin… Mhh…it swallowed the tape. Ok, we fix it and rewiiiind…”

I was born in Cordoba, Argentina in 1977. Since a few years later, I like to tell stories, put them together and modify them. Above all, using audiovisual media.
In the 20 years that I have been in the profession, I have been fortunate, from time to time, to have complete freedom to express ideas, impressions and feelings. Sometimes, as we all do, I have to follow the dictates of the market, fashion or personal desires of a client. But whether I edit or direct, for myself or for others, I experience the creative process, much like a pregnancy and birth, with its moments of excitement, enjoyment, sorrow, happiness, uncertainties and the final satisfaction.
Many years ago, I was exploring a stream in the mountains of Cordoba with some friends, which due to its location looked like a miniature jungle, a real jewel. I was moving through the water with my face flush on the surface, and then I told one of my friends that I would like to shoot documentaries in a canoe through the Amazon and travel the world. It really was a great desire. To him this seemed only a dream, a fantasy, and the truth is that I never went to Amazon. However, I have been able to travel much of the world carrying a camera or sound equipment. I visited places and people that you can only meet when you go with a camera to capture a part of their lives to tell something what is happening out there, either far or near:
Visiting remote tribes and their people in the desert of Mauritania; walking through the labyrinths of Mathare, the poorest neighbourhood in Nairobi; eating the most exquisite chicken with almonds I have ever tasted with a Palestinian family who tell us about the violence and the efforts for a peaceful coexistence with the Israelis; accompanying Zort and Frikstailers on their tour of Europe; walking the streets of New Orleans, meeting its people and seeing the effects of Katrina; accompanying Zort and Frikstailers on their tour of Europe; discovering that in Argentina (my country) there are real projects in some communities to live with dignity and move beyond despair.
In this way I have gathered experiences from all over the world: USA, Cuba, Germany, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Holland, Sweden, England, Italy, Portugal, Macedonia, Israel, Palestine, Kenya, South Africa, Australia and Poland.
Together with outstanding professionals, I have learnt and accumulated experiences that have influenced and enriched both my way of relating to others and the way I work.
I travel to Berlin and Hamburg to work, film and edit. I feel that they are already a part of me. In Berlin I experienced seven years of growth. I learned something that seemed impossible: to speak German!!! Also Deutsch. Today I enjoy it, it gives me pleasure… yesterday I was terrified that I wouldn’t understand it.
However, I always like to be back in Madrid, the city where I live; to walk in the Guadarrama mountains; to cook something delicious, to try new recipes. Being with my partner, my family and my friends from here, there, yesterday, today and always.
