Argentinian filmmaker Martín Granata creates an unconventionally fresh portrait of the Hanseatic city as the backdrop for the musical “Linie S1” at the St. Pauli Theatre. His multi-layered film is shown almost every evening in front of more than 500 spectators.

“A cinema in a museum?” I can hear the astonishment in this sentence every time I talk about the Roxy cinema at the German Emigration Centre. Very few people who have not been here know that the cinema is part of the exhibition. And even fewer know that all the films shown there are the Emigration Museum’s own productions.

The German Emigration Centre in Bremerhaven made a short documentary film about German-Polish history. The film “Wroclaw/Breslau” can be seen by visitors to the exhibition in the Roxy cinema of the Migration Museum. (in german)
On 18 November 2023 at 17.00 the curtain finally went up on our fifth self-produced documentary short film “Wrocław/Breslau”. Guests were able to watch the result of many months of research, interviews and a summer journey from Bremerhaven via Bremen, Potsdam, Berlin, Frankfurt an der Oder to the Polish university town in the packed Roxy cinema of our museum.

A new film by the German Emigration Centre Bremerhaven portrays the German-Polish migration history of the city of Wrocław from 1945 to the present day. The special thing about it is that this story is told from the perspective of immigrants and emigrants.
